What helps uplift the ambiance is that some of the materials and colors are upgraded and there is a wonderful carbon-fiber finish above the instrument panel. That said, the interiors are still not the best, as it still looks too plasticky.
We tried this out several times and it worked in the majority of instances. Other noteworthy pieces are a superior 8-speaker Infinity music system, wireless charging, front parking sensors, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The facelift also adds a few freshness, and the updated engine, while a bit slower off the line, is more driveable and refined now. But if petrol power works for you, then the Elantra facelift is worth considering.
