Dispatches from SXSW: Social Media Start-Ups

By Jeff Nyveen  |  March 18, 2014

Predictably, last week’s SXSW Interactive festival featured a host of innovative start-ups focused on social media. Here are a few of the more intriguing ones:

…SocialRadar is an app that provides information about people physically near to you. It cross-references your location with billions of social profiles online to tell you if anyone around you is connected to you in some way. Although it’s quicker to connect with others also on SocialRadar — and you can chat with them immediately — the app will let you know if anyone you are connected to, regardless of whether or not they are on SocialRadar, is nearby as long as the person has used a location-based service.
